A konjac sponge is a natural product, so a little care keeps it soft, clean and effective for as long as possible. Follow these simple habits.
After every use
- Rinse the sponge under running water until the water runs clear.
- Press it gently between your palms to remove water — do not twist or wring, which tears the fibres.
- Hang it to dry in a well-ventilated spot, away from a damp shower corner. Many sponges include a loop for exactly this.
Weekly refresh
Once a week, sanitise the sponge: bring a small pot of water to a boil, turn off the heat, and steep the sponge for one to two minutes. Let it cool, squeeze gently and air-dry. This keeps it hygienic without harsh chemicals.
When to replace it
Even with good care, a konjac sponge is biodegradable and will soften and break down over time. Replace it every four to six weeks, or sooner if it starts to tear, smell, or lose its springiness.
An eco bonus
Because it is one hundred per cent plant fibre, a used konjac sponge can be composted or torn up and added to your garden soil — a fitting end for a truly natural product.
Quality plant fibre matters. Aisen’s konjac products are made in Japan to stay soft and gentle wash after wash. See how we make them.
